Solid on safety
Safety for Everyone is our commitment to providing one of the highest levels of standard safety features to help ensure occupant safety and protection.* In fact, the CR-V received an IIHS Top Safety Pick and a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA in 2012. And through real-world research, Honda is also focusing on developing unequalled measures of protection to help enhance the safety of occupants in other vehicles and even pedestrians – an innovative idea that is quickly becoming a reality.

Real Time AWD™ (Intelligent Control System™)
For drivers who want the four-season confidence of all-wheel drive, the available Real Time AWD™ with Intelligent Control System™ is a solid feature of the CR-V. It helps to give you traction in low-grip driving conditions such as snow, rain and unpaved road surfaces, and provides a faster, more intuitive initial response when a loss of traction is detected.
Real Time AWD’s operation is completely automatic, which means the system is always ready to transfer torque to the rear wheels, allowing you to keep your focus on driving. And the system can operate at all speeds, so when torque transfer to the rear wheels is not required, such as when cruising, it automatically decouples drive to the rear wheels for reduced drag.

Hill Start Assist
The Hill Start Assist feature in the CR-V helps to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when on an incline. When you switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator while stopped on a hill, the system seamlessly activates, momentarily holding the CR-V in place giving you time to get your foot on the accelerator.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with Traction Control
Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control senses and corrects oversteer and understeer scenarios to help enhance handling and cornering stability. It also helps to minimize wheel spin when accelerating on loose or slippery surfaces, inspiring greater driver confidence.

Advanced Safety
The CR-V comes with a wide range of safety features. There are six airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), an innovative system designed to deactivate the side airbag if a child (or small-stature adult) leans into the side airbag deployment path. Other features include Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, whiplash mitigation front seat design and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Controlled Braking
To help with safe stopping, the 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you maintain control under hard braking conditions, while Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) helps to optimize braking power based on weight distribution inside the vehicle. Brake Assist further improves braking performance by applying full brake pressure when a panic stop is detected.

Exceptional Control
When you get behind the wheel of the CR-V, you immediately notice how incredibly responsive it is. Standard on all 2013 CR-V models, Motion-Adaptive Electric Power-Assisted Rack-and-Pinion Steering (EPS) incorporates driving stability technology, which initiates steering inputs that prompt the driver to steer in the correct direction during cornering and in slippery road conditions. This gives you exceptional control and maneuverability. And because it’s more lightweight than a conventional hydraulic pump power steering system, it contributes to the overall vehicle efficiency.

Child safety
The exceptional safety in the CR-V also applies to your most precious cargo. Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) give you a simple and convenient method to install compatible child safety seats. Built-in, ready-to-use anchors and tethers allow compatible child safety seats to be installed without using the vehicle’s seat belt system.*
*Honda reminds you and your passengers to always buckle up. Children 12 and under are safest when properly secured in the rear seat.
