Bring things to a halt.
You won’t want to stop driving the CR-Z, but when you need to, you’ll have 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. The ABS uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes and help prevent wheel lockup, helping the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The EBD system balances the front/rear braking forces during dynamic loading.

It’s all uphill from here.
The 6-speed manual transmission includes a Hill Start Assist feature, which helps keep the car from rolling backward on an incline when the driver’s foot switches from brake to accelerator. The system maintains brake pressure until engine torque increases, allowing smooth and controlled forward motion without rollback.

Attention control freaks.
The sophisticated Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) allows the driver to retain control if side slippage is detected during oversteer or understeer conditions. If traction loss is detected during cornering, or a sudden change of course, the system kicks in to help restore the driver’s intended course.

Don’t put your neck on the line.
In a rear impact, active front seat head restraints help reduce the likelihood of neck injuries for both driver and passenger.

We have an inflated sense of your importance.
Airbags. There are lots of them. Dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags (SRS). Front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS). Side curtain airbags. Simply, we’ve done our best to keep you surrounded and protected in the event of an impact.

We all need some structure in our lives.
The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure uses a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.
