Safe. Never sorry.
For the Odyssey safety is more than a given, it’s a reason to be. In fact, the Odyssey earned a 2012 IIHS Top Safety Pick and a 5-Star Safety Rating from the NHTSA. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure forms a foundation for solid protection, and the comprehensive cabin airbags surround passengers for an added layer of safety. And with the added control of 4-wheel anti-lock braking, every trip will be a safer one.

ACE™ body structure
The highly innovative Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure disperses frontal impact energy, increasing occupant protection. It also allows for collision compatibility between vehicles of different weights and sizes.

Maintenance Minder™ system
The Maintenance Minder™ system automatically determines when service is required. It also anticipates maintenance schedules, such as oil-and-filter changes and tire rotation, based on your driving habits.

Child safety
Standard Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) offer three secure child-seat restraint positions in the second row on EX trims and above (two on LX), while the third row has two positions on all trims.

Active front head restraints
Active front seat head restraints help lessen the potential for neck injuries during rear-end collisions by reducing the space between the occupant’s head and the head restraint.

Six standard airbags
Six airbags line the vehicle’s cabin, including three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor and the passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) airbag that will not deploy if the system detects a smaller-sized or out-of-position occupant.

Pedestrian safety
Innovative pedestrian safety features include energy-absorbing hood and front fenders, and breakaway wiper pivots.

Controlled Braking
To help with safe stopping, the 4-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps you maintain control under hard braking conditions, while Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) helps to optimize braking power based on weight distribution inside the vehicle. Brake Assist further improves braking performance by applying full brake pressure when a panic stop is detected.

Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with Traction Control
Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control senses and corrects oversteer and understeer scenarios to help enhance handling and cornering stability. It also helps to minimize wheel spin when accelerating on loose or slippery surfaces, inspiring greater driver confidence.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
For added safety and enhanced fuel efficiency, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) continually monitors the air pressure in each tire. If pressure drops in any tire, an alert appears on the driver’s instrument panel.
