Smartphone Compatibility

What phones are compatible with the HondaLink™ Next Generation5,11,12,33 Apps?

Currently, compatible phones include iPhone® 5, 5S, and 5c series, as well as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Why does HondaLink Next Generation not support iPhone® 4S?

The iPhone 4S lacks the stability needed to deliver the best possible experience. Therefore, all the apps were developed with the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s series, as well as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screen-size in mind.

Why does HondaLink Next Generation not support Android?

Currently, there are no compatible Android phones that can support the MirrorLink protocol of the Display Audio12 System.



HondaLink™ Apps

Do HondaLink Next Generation apps use my smartphone’s internet data plan when I am connected to Display Audio12?

Yes. Your standard carrier data and/or voice rates including roaming and other charges will apply.

How do I find out if there are updates available for my HondaLink Next Generation apps?

Updates to all HondaLink™ apps will be made available on the App Store.

Why can’t I use HondaLink Next Generation mobile apps on my iPhone® when it is connected to the vehicle?

While the HondaLink™ app is connected to the vehicle through the HandsFreeLink® or USB/HDMI cable, the app’s screen is locked and cannot be used to interact with HondaLink™ Connect5,11,12,33. Instead, use your vehicle’s Display Audio System to operate HondaLink™ Connect functions.



Vehicle Connection

I tethered my phone and launched the app, but it’s not appearing on the Display Audio System when I select HondaLink™ on the Display Audio home screen.

When tethering your phone to the Display Audio System and starting the HondaLink™ apps, make sure you press “Allow” on the iPhone® screen in order for the applications to run.

Why can’t I use HondaLink™ on the vehicle’s Display Audio System if I have another device plugged into the USB port?

All other USB devices connected to the Display Audio System will interfere with the tethering capability and should be disconnected.

The message: “Unable to start the app. …...” appears.

Always unlock your iPhone® before driving so the HondaLink™ applications can run.

Why does HondaLink™ disconnect while I am driving if I get a text message to my iPhone®?

When using HondaLink™ to access online content, pop-up notifications may appear and interrupt service. To minimize pop-up interruptions, go to your iPhone® Settings and select Notification Centre. Switch to Banner format.

12 – Some laws prohibit the operation of electronic devices while operating a vehicle. Launch applications and perform other operations on electronic devices only when the vehicle is safely parked. Certain functionalities may be locked while vehicle is operational.

16 - All Aha™ platform feeds are audible, not visual in nature. Vehicle does not provide any feeds.

33 – Registration required. Application download may be required. Depending on use, HondaLink™ can transmit to Honda and its providers: (i) a vehicle’s location, speed and other operating conditions; and/or (ii) information that may be tied to the vehicle identification number (VIN). HandsFreeLink™ bilingual Bluetooth® wireless mobile phone interface may be required for certain services, features and/or applications. Some services, features and/or applications are dependent upon cellular data and/or voice availability and may require use of GPS for location-based content. Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease battery life. Subject to applicable law, Honda reserves the right to terminate HondaLink™ services, features and/or applications at any time or for any reason, and in the future may not be able to provide services, features and/or applications due to changes in technology, law or government regulation.
